Philip Aroko freed on Ksh.300,000 cash bail in connection with Kasipul MP Charles Were’s murder case.

Philip Aroko, a key suspect in the murder of Kasipul MP Charles Were, has been released on a cash bail of Ksh.300,000 by the JKIA Law Courts. Magistrate Irene Gichobi imposed strict bail conditions, including surrendering his passport, a travel ban to Homa Bay (the MP’s home county), and restrictions on contacting co-suspects or family members of the deceased. Aroko must also avoid interfering with evidence and report regularly to investigators.

The prosecution had opposed bail, citing public interest and the need for further investigation. Aroko is one of 11 suspects in the case. The matter will be mentioned again on June 3, 2025.
