Alex Mutua was charged with the murder of British national Campbell Scott, who was killed on February 16, 2025, in Pipeline, Nairobi. Mutua pleaded not guilty before Justice James Wakiaga. The prosecution opposed bail and was ordered to file an affidavit within three days, while a pre-bail report is to be prepared in 21 days. A pre-trial and bail hearing is scheduled for June 17.
Campbell Scott went missing on February 17 and was later found dead in Makongo Forest, Makueni. Investigators believe he was lured to a fake business meeting before being murdered.
One suspect, Samuel Musembi Kamitu, reportedly took poison and fatally stabbed himself in Dandora. Two other suspects, Alphonse Munyao Kilewa (alias Edu) and Bernard Mbunga Mbusu, remain at large. Mutua and another suspect, Albunus Mutinda Nzioki, are cooperating with investigators.
