Monday the 16th of December 2024 will forever remain in the hearts of Nigerians as one of their super stars was crowned as the CAF mens’ player of the year.This event that took place in Morocco on Monday night, brought together different football stakeholders, football legends, presidents, players, musicians and FIFA president Gianni Infantino.
Different players, coaches and teams that had shown remarkable perfomances got the previledge to win different awards as a way of appreciating them.Ningeria’s and Serie A player Ademola Lookman won the CAF men’s best player of the year award as Barbra Banda who is a Zambian Professional footballer playing for the National Women Soccer league Club Orlando Pride and Captain of the Zambia National team won CAF’s women player of the year.Speaking during the ceremony,Lookman was very thankful to the people of Nigeria and the Nigerian Federation for trust and opportunity they had given him to prove himself in the national team.Before,Lookman had been nominated in the Balon D’ior and finished at position 14 leaving behind very big names behind.Nigeria now secures the second win in a row after Victor Osimhen won the CAF best player of the year award back in 2023.
