Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat is prioritizing the transformation of police stations into centres of excellence. Since his appointment on July 25, 2024, he has been making surprise visits to stations across the country. During a visit to Magadi Police Station on Saturday, Lagat praised officers for keeping the station clean, highlighting that a tidy environment helps build public confidence and encourages citizens to share information.

Lagatās push for improvements stems from complaints about poorly maintained stations lacking basic amenities like water and electricity. His strategy includes infrastructure upgrades, capacity building, and strengthening community engagement to create a safer and more respectful environment for citizens.
Additionally, digitalization of police stations is underway, allowing citizens to report incidents via smartphones, streamlining case management, reducing bureaucracy, and promoting accountability. Before his visit to Magadi, Lagat also joined the staff at Magadi Field Training Camp to celebrate Easter, expressing gratitude for their service and sacrifices during the holiday.
