Alarm is growing over the whereabouts of former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju, after his family and legal team filed a missing person’s report with police on Sunday, March 22.
According to Tuju’s lawyer, Grado Victor Mabachi, and his son Mano Tuju, the veteran politician’s phone has been unreachable and his vehicle was discovered abandoned along Miotoni Lane in Karen, Nairobi.
The family says Tuju left home on Saturday, March 21, headed for an interview at Ramogi ā and never returned.
The disappearance comes at a particularly turbulent moment for the former minister. Tuju has been at the centre of a high-stakes legal battle that saw armed police forcibly evict him from his Dari Business Park property in Karen in the early hours of March 14. The disputed Karen property ā which includes Entim Sidai Wellness Sanctuary, Tamarind Karen, and Dari Business Park ā had been used as collateral for a multi-million dollar loan from the East African Development Bank (EADB).
His legal team has also raised concerns after an application he filed at the Court of Appeal mysteriously disappeared from the cause list on March 16.
The circumstances surrounding his disappearance have drawn immediate public concern, given the intensity of the disputes surrounding his properties and the allegations he has made of powerful interests working against him.
Police are yet to make an official statement. Kelele Digital will continue to follow this story as it develops.
