Formula 1 Secures Mexico City Grand Prix Future Through 2028 with Three-Year Extension

Formula 1 has finalized a three-year contract extension with promoter CIE to keep the Mexico City Grand Prix at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez on the calendar through the 2028 season. The 2025 race, scheduled for October 26, will be the final event under the current agreement before the new deal takes effect.

A Resurgent Fan Favorite

Since its revival in 2015, the Mexico GP has grown into one of F1’s mostĀ electrifying events, drawing a recordĀ 405,000 spectatorsĀ last year. Despite the impending departure of Mexican driverĀ Sergio PĆ©rezĀ from Red Bull after this season, organizers remained confident in the race’s appeal—a belief now validated by the extension.

Government & Promoter Commitment

The event retains strong backing from Mexican authorities, includingĀ Mexico City Mayor Clara BrugadaĀ andĀ President Claudia Sheinbaum. Alejandro Soberón, CEO of promoter CIE, emphasized the race’s impact:
