The National Police Service has confirmed that ballistic tests connect a pistol recovered from suspects in the murder of Kasipul MP Charles Were to three separate robbery incidents in Nairobi and Kiambu counties. The firearm, a Sarsilmaz pistol, was found at the residence of one of the two primary suspects, along with a bag and footwear matching descriptions from the crime scene.
Inspector General Douglas Kanja stated that the ballistic report “unequivocally” ties the weapon to the fatal shooting of the MP and reveals its use in other violent crimes. He assured the public of the police’s commitment to a thorough investigation, with 10 suspects already in custody.
Meanwhile, businessman Philip Aroko, who surrendered to the DCI, denied involvement in the murder. The Interior Ministry has urged calm as detectives pursue further leads.
Key Details:
-
Weapon Link: Gun tied to MP’s murder and 3 robberies.
-
Suspects: 10 arrested; 2 directly linked via recovered evidence.
-
Aroko’s Role: Denies allegations after voluntary surrender.
-
